God’s Word Instructs Us to Be Patient in Waiting

Week 41, Tuesday

Karyn Wilton

I waited patiently for the Lord; and He inclined to me and heard my cry. He brought me up out of the pit of destruction, out of the miry clay, and He set my feet upon a rock making my footsteps firm. And He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God; many will see and fear and will trust in the Lord.

Psalm 40:1-3 (nasb)

In the daily craziness of life we often long to be in union with our Lord. He may seem to be remote and silent. We long for a new song and fresh impartation of His Spirit in our lives. We remember those times of divine intimacy, how our spirits soared in union with our Creator and we long for more. Then, of His own choosing, after our heart has yearned with seeking beyond words, His sweet visitation is upon us and our souls are filled afresh with a new song.

There is nothing more precious than to wait patiently upon the Lord for such an infilling. Far too often we are too busy to set time aside to wait upon Him. May today be different. Why don’t you sit at His feet and hear your new song?

Dear God, there is nothing greater in my life than desiring to have and know the blessing of Your presence in my life. No material possession and no earthly fellowship or human accolade can compare with Your indwelling fellowship and presence. Today I desire to know that small still voice within my being. My soul desires to know that I am Your beloved child, the apple of Your eye, the darling gift of Your grace. You know the secret places of my heart and so I yield to You, trusting and obeying You while I patiently wait upon You and Your Word. Fill me afresh with Your Holy Spirit. I thank You, Lord, that You said if I draw near to You, You will draw near to me. Forgive me when I do not make the time and wait patiently for You. In Your precious name I pray, amen.
