Nurture: Give and Get What You Need to Flourish

Kristi Cook

I am so honored to be called to serve the Lord in various facets of women’s ministry.  I love the energy and excitement of young adult women.  I love the shift of young adult women to middle-aged and I dearly love the wisdom of our senior ladies.

I am an emotional roller coaster if you get me started on the women’s Bible study I lead.  Shall I begin?  I feel inadequate, privileged, scared, excited, inspired, blessed… With each lady that I will be delivering a message in mind, I pour my heart and soul into the study and preparation of each lesson.  I’m grateful God has chosen me.

Recently, my heart has ached over the way women of all ages treat each other.  Sisters, we can all be down-right mean at times.  And we are supposed to be the nurturing ones?!

Lisa Bevere penned a divine book called Nurture: Give and Get What You Need to Flourish.  This book covers much of what God’s daughters so desperately need to flourish.

Women of all ages struggle to make connections.  Feelings of inadequacies cause us to miss so many opportunities for true friendship.  Throw in some of the enemy’s favorite things (envy, jealousy, gossip, competition, etc), and we are a Holy-Bless-Your-Heart-Mess!!!

Read this beautiful book and gain insight on learning to reach out to others, making connections, and start being the kind of friend that you’ve always longed for.  God created us to love.

Catch you in the forum or post a comment here.  Have you read this book?  Tell us what you think.

Recently, talking with someone, I commented, “So if I hear you correctly…you believe that the only way you can know God’s pleasure is if you serve and DO everything correctly?”   I asked, ” Are you tired, yet?”   This young person was indeed exhausted and in a desperate place with nowhere to turn for help. 1. Have not read this book but sounds like one that would grow from. I do agree that it is hard for women to make true friendships with other women because of everything you mentioned. I’m going to have to pick this book up……thanks for the recommendation!
