God’s Hands
Week 38, Friday

But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called Today. Hebrews 3:13
Today is a gift from a Father who loves us. Someone once said it is why we call each day the “present.” Yesterday is over, never to be repeated. We cannot jump ahead to tomorrow. We have only today. I do not want to waste one minute of today with regrets about what might have been or worries about what may come. That is the prayer of my heart.
I love the song Cindy Morgan wrote for Point of Grace called “How You Live.” It talks about different ways we can enjoy life. Yes, life is hard. But if I spend all my time feeling sad about what life is not, I miss all of the wonderful things that life is. A life lived cherishing the moments, whether challenging or joyful, demonstrates God’s love for me.
The Point of Grace song reminds me to be a friend to others who may need encouragement from someone who is willing to be “Jesus with skin on.” As a Christ follower, I am the hands, feet, and mouth of God on this earth. Am I using my feet to go to people who need to hear about God’s love? Am I using my hands to offer help to someone who needs to feel God’s touch? Am I speaking God’s comfort and encouragement to those who need to hear a word from Him? The way I live my life encourages and draws others to the heart of God while allowing me to experience the joy of being God’s vessel.
I choose how I will live each day. I want to decide to live this day for God and to make choices that will show my love for Him and bring Him glory. How will you use the gift of this day?
Lord, I give myself to You and ask You to guide my way this day. May I live in the moment and be aware of Your presence. Help me celebrate life in small ways. Open my eyes to people I can love in Your name. I will live for today knowing You are with me. Amen.
