Always Safe

Week 38, Weekend

Leigh Lowery

So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. Isaiah 41:10

My Bible is like a diary or journal of sorts. Throughout the pages I’ve written dates, names, and notations that signify special times, celebrations, crises, deaths, and answers to prayers, but no passage is more highlighted and underlined than this verse in Isaiah. When our daughter Christy was a little girl she was afraid of many things, including clowns and Santa. I helped her memorize this verse. She would say it over and over while she clutched her beloved Raggedy Ann doll. This verse has been a friend to her throughout her life. When she was in labor with her first child it was at her bedside to give her strength, courage, and comfort. I have copied this verse more times than I can remember to send to the hospital or to comfort “freaked-out” hearts.

God will give us the strength we need to get through every day of our lives. He will provide “trouble grace” during the tough times. Not only will He give us strength, He also promises to be our strength and to be the fortress where we can find refuge and safety. God promises to hold us every step of the way in His strong, righteous hands.

Child, rest in His secure love and grace. We can face whatever we need to face and gracefully walk through life with God’s strong arms around us. Learn to be mindful of the ways that He provides for you. Be on the lookout for the little surprises of grace God will put along your way to show you that He is with you today.

Thank You, Father, that You are my God. Thank You for Your strength and help. I will rest in Your strong and loving arms and I will not be afraid. Amen
