Give Your Anxiety to the Savior

Week 31, Wednesday

Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. 1 Peter 5:7

Anxiety! Have you ever felt anxious? What does a woman do when she feels loaded down with worry? When life seems difficult, unclear, unfair, hurtful, and tough, what are we to do? How do we handle the anxieties that rise from life’s circumstances? God’s beloved, you have a strong Savior who wants to carry that burden for you. Thus, do we handle the anxiety? We don’t! We are to let our Savior handle each anxiety, each burden for us.

Last Friday I was on a middle school field trip serving as a chaperone for our daughter’s class. We visited a big, crowded amusement park. Each girl in the group was carrying a bag, and as the day went by they each added souvenirs. There was only one problem: It was hard to carry all those things and enjoy the rides. Since I care for my daughter’s classmates, I wanted them to enjoy the rides without the worry of losing their cell phones on the roller coasters or getting their things wet on the water rides. I asked each girl to give me her “worry” (anxiety), and I would hold it. As you can imagine, not one girl decided to carry her own bag of worry or anxiety with her! Every one of them cast her worry (anxiety, burden)—her stuff—upon me and enjoyed the rides to the fullest!

Psalm 147:3 says, “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” Can you see Jesus extending His arms to heal your broken heart and lovingly and gently binding up your wounds with His pure, self-sacrificial love because He cares? He is the healer of our soul, emotions, mind, and life. He speaks to us as we take time daily to be with Him and hear His voice in His Word, where we can experience His tender loving voice, His truth, His healing, His victory, and His joy.

As the girls on the field trip, let me carry their stuff, let Jesus carry your stuff, for He cares for you!

My loving God, thank You for your comforting words. You care for me! Show me how to cast my anxiety upon You to rest in You today. Speak to my heart, Lord Jesus. Amen.

  • When You Lift Their Names – Part 2

Praying big prayers for our children is not just praying in a way that we are comfortable or lack belief; it is bold and purposeful.  “Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us.” — Ephesians 3:20 (NIV) Ministry wives carry many burdens quietly, but one of the heaviest is the constant prayerful concern for our children. As we support our husbands and serve the church, our hearts remain tethered to our sons and daughters’ spiritual, emotional, and physical well-being. It’s easy to shrink our prayers to what feels manageable or “”realistic,””—but we serve a God who deals with the impossible. Ephesians 3:20 reminds us that God can do “”immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine.”” That includes our children’schildren’s faith, friendships, futures, and failures. As women deeply embedded in ministry life, we often pray for protection: Lord, shield them from the hypocrisy they may witness. Guard their hearts from resentment. Keep them from rebellion.Those are essential prayers—but what if we also began to pray big, bold, heaven-sized prayers? Bold prayers are not safe prayers. Bold prayers are prayers of faith. Bold prayers take us from what we can…

  1. This is just plain easier said than done. I’m the type that bottles my worries until I explode in irritation for the littlest things. I don’t realize until it’s too late that I’m carrying “stuff” and I have to sit down, be still and the let the Lord show me what it is that’s burdening me. Writing, I’ve found is a good way to list it out so the Lord can truly take it from me. I’m going to do that now with this verse listed at the top of my page. Thank you for the reminder! I need to do this daily so I don’t find myself exploding and wondering what happened. Blessings!

  2. Thank you for this word of encouragement. Right now, I am seeing my own child go through anxiety and frustration as he decides to withdraw from college, and follow the plans Christ has for him. As a mom, I too am hurting to see his hurt. I will continue to trust God with this entire situation.
