You Can Trust Him

Week 34, Wednesday

Melanie Redd

You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you! Trust in the Lord always, for the Lord God is the eternal Rock. Isaiah 26:3-4 (nlt)

During our Vacation Bible School, we sang many of the same old VBS songs with lots of laughter and crazy motions. The kids enjoyed every moment of the singing time each morning. However, there was one song that was especially meaningful for me and for many of the other adults who served as leaders. This song was played over and over during the week. The chorus was simple, and it stuck with me for months after VBS was over. The song lyrics simply say, “We can trust Him! We can trust Him!”

That VBS has long since passed, but those words still follow me around everywhere I go. When I get a tough phone call, I hear, “We can trust Him!” As I’m paying the bills and wondering where the extra money will come from, I hear, “We can trust Him!” When talking to a hurting friend in need, I am reminded of the words again: “We can trust Him!”

Do you and I trust Him? Do we really believe that God is able to take care of us and take care of our needs? In the depths of our hearts, are we certain that our heavenly Father is reliable and faithful?

Consider the words of Isaiah 26:3 again: “You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you!”

We can trust in our great God! He is faithful and He will keep us in perfect peace as we trust in Him and fix our thoughts on Him.

Today, as you face attacks on your faith, remember, “You can trust Him!” As you put your hope in Him and determine to fix your thoughts on Him, I pray you’ll step a little closer to your Savior.

Father, it is such a challenge for me to trust You completely. I can trust You with some things some of the time, but it is hard to trust You with all things all of the time. Would You increase my faith and give me an increased ability to trust You as I never have before? In Jesus’ name, amen.
