Seek His Face

Week 31, Monday

Look to the Lord and his strength; seek his face always. Psalm 105:4

Who can give us the strength to press on each day? God tells us in His Word it is He who gives us the strength as we seek His face. How do we seek His face?

Last Sunday night I picked up my friend’s baby from the nursery and brought him to the room where his mother was occupied greeting people. The baby in my arms began to look around at the people in the room. Suddenly he locked eyes with his mother and with immediate desperation he sought to be in her arms. She smiled, reaching out to her son with motherly love.

Oh, God’s beloved, your heavenly Father is looking at you, extending His arms toward you. He longs to hold you and He wants you to know He is ever present in every moment of your life. Just as a baby looks for his loving mother’s face, would you look for and seek your loving heavenly Father’s face today? Would you lock eyes with Him as you seek Him in prayer and in His Word?

Have you ever been separated from your loved one in the midst of a crowd of unfamiliar people? Did you find yourself searching with expectation to see that familiar face? As you looked around, you saw all kinds of people and every person you saw who was not your loved one was actually a disappointment because he or she was not the one you were desperately looking for in the crowd. Finally, when you found that familiar face, what did you feel? Relief flushed your soul, security came to you, and you felt like all was well; desperation turned to peace.

God’s dear one, let us seek our Father’s loving face today; let us seek His strength continually in prayer and in His Word.

Heavenly Father, I seek Your face today. I long to see You and to hear Your voice. Open my eyes that I may see You and my ears that I may hear Your voice. Speak to my heart today in Your Word for I long for You. In Jesus’ powerful name I pray, amen.

  1. As a young person, I remembered at times when I was serving at church, I felt lonely. So I prayed to the Lord for a husband to partner with me in ministry and the Lord answered my prayers. We have such privileges to be called by God to serve in churches & ministries.

Every morning, I need to come before the Lord and experience his renewal and presence especially on Monday. One pastor wife said,”the blue Monday ” when everything that happened at church may affect us on Monday or at times our sleep on Sunday night.

This morning, I take a walk in our neighborhood praising God and I notice that all creations praise Him too including the birds singing in the morning.

This is what He speaks to me today:

Psalm 66: 1-2 “Shout with joy to God,all the earth! Sing he glory of his name;make his praise glorious!”

10-12 “For you, O God, tested us;you refined us like silver. You brought us into prison and laid burdens on our backs. You let men ride over our heads;we went through fire and water, but you brought us to a place of abundance.”

  2. Being separated from someone, especially a child is the worst feeling in the world. Yes, we should seek him like a child seeking it’s mother. Like Psalms 42:1 How a deer pants for the brook, our souls should pant for the Lord. I have been praying that every morning for a week. I want that desire and hunger for him like that. I was reading about a prayer journal that Donna Gaines put together and that was the verse she prayed. I think we have to ask HIM for that desire and hunger for HIM. Every morning He desires to meet with us and wants us to tell Him the desires of our heart.
