It is Finished!
It’s Good Friday. How can something so dark be good? So traumatic? So brutal. Bloody and violent and yet good?
The “good” in this day is centered around the sacrifice of our Lord. Our past, present and future sins were place upon Him and willing He took them. He paid the price for the sins of the world. My twitter feed is enough to recoil with the thought that He took on all of THIS!?!?
Yet the simple, clear answer is…Yes He did. The moment He declared, It is finished!!
28 After this, when Jesus knew that everything was now finished that the Scripture might be fulfilled, he said, “I’m thirsty.” 29 A jar full of sour wine was sitting there; so they fixed a sponge full of sour wine on a hyssop branch and held it up to his mouth. 30 When Jesus had received the sour wine, he said, “It is finished.” Then bowing his head, he gave up his spirit. John 19:28-30
Today, reflect with me on the fact that though it can be difficult – this life that we lead – it is finished! All we really need has been completed and we have hope in all of this life because of those three words!
“It is finished!”
