Give Your Anxiety to the Savior

Week 31, Wednesday

Liliana Lewis

Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.

1 Peter 5:7

Anxiety! Have you ever felt anxious? What does a woman do when she feels loaded down with worry? When life seems difficult, unclear, unfair, hurtful, and tough, what are we to do? How do we handle the anxieties that rise from life’s circumstances? God’s beloved, you have a strong Savior who wants to carry that burden for you. Thus, do we handle the anxiety? We don’t! We are to let our Savior handle each anxiety, each burden for us.

Last Friday I was on a middle school field trip serving as a chaperone for our daughter’s class. We visited a big, crowded amusement park. Each girl in the group was carrying a bag, and as the day went by they each added souvenirs. There was only one problem: It was hard to carry all those things and enjoy the rides. Since I care for my daughter’s classmates, I wanted them to enjoy the rides without the worry of losing their cell phones on the roller coasters or getting their things wet on the water rides. I asked each girl to give me her “worry” (anxiety), and I would hold it. As you can imagine, not one girl decided to carry her own bag of worry or anxiety with her! Every one of them cast her worry (anxiety, burden)—her stuff—upon me and enjoyed the rides to the fullest!

Psalm 147:3 says, “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” Can you see Jesus extending His arms to heal your broken heart and lovingly and gently binding up your wounds with His pure, self-sacrificial love because He cares? He is the healer of our soul, emotions, mind, and life. He speaks to us as we take time daily to be with Him and hear His voice in His Word, where we can experience His tender loving voice, His truth, His healing, His victory, and His joy.

As the girls on the field trip, let me carry their stuff, let Jesus carry your stuff, for He cares for you!

My loving God, thank You for your comforting words. You care for me! Show me how to cast my anxiety upon You to rest in You today. Speak to my heart, Lord Jesus. Amen.
