Complete Surrender

Week 40, Monday
Shari Falwell

So we have not stopped praying for you since we first heard about you. We ask God to give you complete knowledge of his will and to give you spiritual wisdom and understanding. Then the way you live will always honor and please the Lord, and your lives will produce every kind of good fruit. All the while, you will grow as you learn to know God better and better. We also pray that you will be strengthened with all his glorious power so you will have all the endurance and patience you need. May you be filled with joy, always thanking the Father. He has enabled you to share in the inheritance that belongs to his people, who live in the light. Colossians 1:9-12 (nlt)

I’m amazed that God in all of His majesty created me so that I could have an eternal relationship with Him. Am I worthy of that privilege? I don’t think so, but He thinks I’m absolutely worthy.

I have to confess something: I love to go shopping. I love to shop for bargains. I want to find designer merchandise at thrift store prices. When I go into a shopping mall, I usually avoid the racks where there are no “additional off” signs posted. I do not like to pay full price ever! I’ll just walk away until prices drop to a more reasonable range.

But do you realize that God paid full price for us? He knew the quality that He created in each of us, and He willingly paid His most precious possession to redeem us. We are worth it! We have value in God’s eyes. He loves and adores us and wants our lives to be full of His absolute best.

Unfortunately, something keeps getting in the way of God’s best for my life, and that something is me. If I would only see myself as God sees me, I could open the doors to a life on this earth that is unsurpassable. We need to realize that God can see all of our potential. He knows what could happen if I would give my position, priorities, and prayer life to Him in complete surrender. What a blessed life I would have! So, it’s a choice. Do we win or lose?

Lord, thank You for creating me and making me the way that I am. I am fearfully and wonderfully made because You made me that way. Thank You for giving me eternal and abundant life. Help me think unselfishly and to always trust You and Your Word for my life. You are always accessible, and I thank You for Your unconditional love for me. I want You to be proud of me, and I know with Your help, I can do all things. Amen.
