An Encourager along the Way
II Peter 1:3, 10-12. “seeing that His divine power has granted everything pertaining to life and godliness…therefore, be diligent to make certain about His calling and choosing you…therefore, I shall always be ready to remind you of these things…”
Have you ever made a list of things that encouraged you? Invest in a review of God’s goodness and encouragements through your life in ministry. If you are just beginning this journey, take note of the special insights or people, books or poems that God brings across your path.
God reminds me of people that encouraged me. One woman is forever nameless yet unforgettable. I recall meeting her and being captured by her Godly countenance. Being with her made me think: wow, I want to be like that! She seemed to radiate God’s presence and reflect his attitudes. She was winsome and compelling, and meeting her changed me.
The hour I spent with this woman affected my life as the Holy Spirit connected our hearts. Her God-qualities captured me as He taught me a principle that has proven true: if there is some quality you want to have when you are older, you must begin being/doing that when you are young!
As we choose God’s manner, attitudes, and viewpoints through life, He reflects through us. That is my desire, and when life choices get hard in the trenches, choosing His way will prove beneficial. You will never look back and regret choosing His way. This will keep you on the firm foundation.
Peter, in the scripture reference above, sought to remind his readers of this very thing. Read this passage when you need reminding. Thank God for reminders that brings you encouragement.
Reminders are good things; it helps us look back yet keep going forward.
Make a list of encouragements God provided in your life. Thank Him for caring enough to provide encouragements and examples over the years. Thank Him for the ability to recall and for fresh blessings of remembered encounters. Lord, You are good!
