Walk the Talk . . . When You Feel Inferior

We have a trap that we use to try to catch the little animals that like to feast on the roses in our flower gardens. Notice the word try. Rarely are we successful in our attempts to catch these annoying pests!
Unfortunately, the Enemy of our souls is more successful in his endeavors. Satan sets traps for us—lies that he uses to try to redefine who we are as opposed to who God says we are. One of the traps he uses is the trap of inferiority. We know how this trap is set. He plants thoughts in our minds to make us think that we are less than someone else. We have thoughts like, “All these other women have their acts together. Look how gifted they are. I could never compare to them. Where was I when the ten-talent gift cards were being passed out?” The Enemy uses thoughts of inferiority to immobilize us and to keep us from becoming who God created us to be.
The trap is what the Enemy sets. The truth is what God says. God says, “The Lord will make you the head and not the tail, and you will only be above, and you will not be underneath, if you listen to the commandments of the Lord” (Deuteronomy 28:13, nasb). The Enemy sets traps for us. A trap has three sides and an open door. Once the prey steps into the trap, the door springs shut and the trap becomes a prison. If we are not careful, the trap the Enemy sets for us with his lies will become a prison.
The good news is that we do not have to become a prisoner to the Enemy’s lies. Paul explained that as believers, “The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ” (2 Corinthians 10:4-5). Walk according to the truth of God’s Word. You are who God says you are!
Lord, help me to hear Your truth over the clamor of the Enemy’s lies. By Your grace, I will take every deceptive thought captive and make it obedient to Christ today. Amen.
This is a trap that I get caught in a lot and I feel stuck in many ways. There is so much I want to do in the ministry and then so many things begin to happen that hinders me from doing them. I know that it is Satan, he knows this is a weakness of mine. I pray that I will keep my focus on God’s will and remember that He is always with me no matter what.
