The Early Days of Ministry

INTRODUCTION

Are you new to ministry? Perhaps recently you and your husband acknowledged God’s call and claim on your lives—or maybe it’s been a while, yet ministry life still feels new.

This 30-day devotional highlights one woman’s journey into ministry with her husband, and she invites you to walk alongside, and observe. You’ll find scriptural helps each day, and questions to help you focus on and think through changes in your own life.

When you identify topics that generate interest, use them as a tool to communicate through ContagiousJoy. Please engage and share your own stories as we begin this walk into ministry alongside our husbands.

These are precious days, beginning days. They establish movement on the path of your journey. Only God knows where it will end, so never fret about the details of the future. The most important thing is to stay on His path. This is something you can “do,” and although it may require difficult choices, it is achievable. Identify the path He asks you to walk because He is always trustworthy to direct you there.

  • II Thess. 3:5:  “May the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God and into the steadfastness of Christ” (NASB). And from the The Message version, “May the Master take you by the hand and lead you along the path of God’s love and Christ’s endurance.
  • In this verse, direct means “take you by the hand to guide, make paths straight; remove hindrances…”

Proverbs 3:4-5 says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not upon your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.”.

The wisdom of Proverbs says to place your confidence in and gain your security from the Lord, because this will produce a sense of safety and a life free from undue cares. Do not merely trust your own perceptions, but learn to know God in every aspect of who He is, for He intends to direct your individual journey, that journey called ministry.
