Seek His Face
Week 31, Monday
Liliana Lewis
Look to the Lord and his strength; seek his face always.
Psalm 105:4
Who can give us the strength to press on each day? God tells us in His Word it is He who gives us the strength as we seek His face. How do we seek His face?
Last Sunday night I picked up my friend’s baby from the nursery and brought him to the room where his mother was occupied greeting people. The baby in my arms began to look around at the people in the room. Suddenly he locked eyes with his mother and with immediate desperation he sought to be in her arms. She smiled, reaching out to her son with motherly love.
Oh, God’s beloved, your heavenly Father is looking at you, extending His arms toward you. He longs to hold you and He wants you to know He is ever present in every moment of your life. Just as a baby looks for his loving mother’s face, would you look for and seek your loving heavenly Father’s face today? Would you lock eyes with Him as you seek Him in prayer and in His Word?
Have you ever been separated from your loved one in the midst of a crowd of unfamiliar people? Did you find yourself searching with expectation to see that familiar face? As you looked around, you saw all kinds of people and every person you saw who was not your loved one was actually a disappointment because he or she was not the one you were desperately looking for in the crowd. Finally, when you found that familiar face, what did you feel? Relief flushed your soul, security came to you, and you felt like all was well; desperation turned to peace.
God’s dear one, let us seek our Father’s loving face today; let us seek His strength continually in prayer and in His Word.
Heavenly Father, I seek Your face today. I long to see You and to hear Your voice. Open my eyes that I may see You and my ears that I may hear Your voice. Speak to my heart today in Your Word for I long for You. In Jesus’ powerful name I pray, amen.
God is my shelter. I look to him daily to get me through trying times. I know that God will help me to endure and forge ahead. He is the peace I look to.
