Putting Fear in Its Place (Part 2)

There aren’t enough words to describe the time each of us is living. At the time of this writing, I’ve just ended a global prayer conference call. I was listening and interceding, while others from multiple countries gave reports and asked for prayer for their nations due to this pandemic. I was humbled. Brought to tears as I heard their prayer requests for revival and great awakening for their countries. There is sadness for the loss of physical life. And yet, the most earnest plea is for God to save not only physical lives but to move in the hearts of people to know the Savior!

During all of this, I believe what I heard loudest was resolute faith.

They admitted it was hard.

They acknowledged the need for help.

They let the sadness be known.

There was grief.

There were tears.

Fear was present, but fear was not in charge.

I’m contemplating fear today.

How do we live in this fear-filled world?

I believe we begin by acknowledging our fear and asking for courage from our Lord.

You see, courage is not the absence of fear, just as peace is not the absence of conflict. (Deuteronomy 31:6)

Courage for a ministry wife is when things are not going well, and fear is surrounding us we take our thoughts captive, pray, and seek the face of the One who will see us through to the other side of the battle. (2 Corinthians 10:4-7)

We decide to face our fears, head-on!

We acknowledge our fears for what they are, and if we don’t understand the scope of the fear – through prayer, we give our Lord permission to reveal what the root of the fear is and then to uproot it! (I Peter 5:7)

We take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ being careful not to give in to the fear, allowing it to control our every waking moment. (Isaiah 41:10)

And move when God tells us to move and be still when He tells us to be still. (Psalm 46:10)

Let’s build our faith and stand firm!

During our COVID-19 social distancing, please do not use this time to feed your soul (your mind, will & emotions) with the social media and news outlets. These outlets tend to feed our fears. Instead, let’s look for ways that we can minister to our family, our neighbors, the elderly in our community.

  • Let’s turn out instead of holding up and turning in! Social distancing does not mean isolation!
  • Memorize more Scripture.
  • Zoom your Bible Studies, Start a mentoring group via zoom or another social media platform.
  • Take a walk.
  • Work in your yard.
  • Communicate with someone concerning new insights to a passage of Scripture.
  • If you are stuck or need some help – be courageous! Reach out and ask for some help! Contact us!
  • If you have a physical need – please let us know!

We have to be in this together! We are a family! Let’s stand strong together against our fear and put it in its place! Let’s be available for one another! (Galatians 5:10-6)
