find yourself in a teenage-type plot with adult women? She hurt my feelings. She didn’t invite me. She gave me the cold shoulder. She didn’t speak to me. I could go on and on.

Lisa Bevere’s Nurture: Give and Get What You Need to Flourish caught my heart with her chapter titled, “Sister to Sister.” It is packed full of biblical instruction on making friendships, connecting with each other, and why women don’t connect. Envy, jealousy, competition,

gossip, and isolation are just a few of the reasons that keep us sisters from sticking together. And that, my friends, is just in one chapter. Other chapters include topics such as Mentor r Mother, Elizabeth and Mary, and creating an En iron net of Nurture.

Are we too busy with our own wounds to see that others are guarded, vulnerable, and afraid? Women need to be healed. We could all use a little more love and support. Blessed is the woman who has true, genuine friends. Unfortunately, the more time I spend in ministry, the more women I meet that are suffering the lack of connections with other women. I can think of nothing more nourishing than love and support from a godly sister.
A quote from Lisa: “Sisters, we need to start clapping for one another! Why do we want to withhold support from each other? Are we that threatened and insecure?”
