Courage: Discovering Who God Made You to Be

Week 9, Friday

And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19

Having the courage to discover who you are in Christ is the beginning of great change. Look closely at these three areas of your life:

Your sin and God’s forgiveness: When you accept that you cannot be perfect, then you realize that your ways, thoughts, and intentions are not perfect. We sometimes forget that we have to daily admit we sin. Ask God to create change in specific areas by admitting your need. Starting here will allow you to recognize God’s voice.

Your heritage as a believer: It is a comfort to know you are a child of the King of kings. He supplies all your needs according to His riches. Your little amount of suffering will not compare to the gifts He has for you. Move closer to Him and accept your inheritance. This is a promise to remember when you feel beaten and down.

Your service to God: Instead of trying to create a new mission field, look where God has placed you. Find His mission field right in front of you. Join His work, and His blessings will begin to pour in. God’s plan for the universe will come to pass, and you must choose if it includes you. The outcome is in place and the time is set. Don’t let time run out before you decide to join Him. It will be then that you begin to see His plan for you.

Are you finding yourself a little hesitant to jump in and start living up to your commitment? Remember, after you start serving Him joy sets in, and your faithfulness is rewarded with blessings such as renewing relationships, encouraging others while they encourage you, and knowing you are making a difference while serving God. Thank God for those commitments requiring courage. Go ahead and see what you’re made of. You’ll be pleasantly surprised!

Lord, Thank You for showing me where I need to change. Help me to discover how You have made me and for what purposes. Help me to recognize where You are at work around me, so that I can see Your mission field.
