Be Still

Oh how I miss the excitement of wonder. I have allowed the changes in my life and the demands on my time to override the most important portion of my life. How easy it is for us to allow the smallest distraction to steal our precious time with the Father. Before we know it, our childlike joy, spontaneity, and expectation of seeing God’s presence in our lives has been lost. We often don’t even realize that it is gone until months later. We were created for His praise and glory and our greatest pleasure is found in His presence, yet we don’t strive for it. This says a lot about what we believe about God’s Word, which says a lot about our faith.

It seems the simplicity of life has been lost. All we need is to simply believe that what God says in His Word is true and important. “Oh Lord, You have worked through so many situations, used so many objects, songs, and books to encourage my faith. You are persistent. But when my mind is muddled and when distractions abound, I miss them all. So how do I prevent this from happening? Am I as persistent and determined to see You as You are to show Yourself to me? If so, then I will do whatever I can to make sure that I visit with You the first part of every day. That requires discipline. Lord God, help me.”

God wants nations to see Him and know Him and exalt Him. That means He wants us to do the same. He also wants to use us to declare Him to the nations. Are we doing our part? The first part of this command is “Be still!” The second part will not come until we are obedient to the first. Our obedience determines our faith. Do you believe God? Do you take God at His word? If not, then you simply do not have faith. He wants to be exalted in your life today. Will you allow Him? Let’s take God at His word. Be still and watch as God is exalted.

Dear Lord, please forgive me for not doing my part. In this busy world it is so hard to be still, but I know that if You are to be exalted in my life and among the nations, then I must make a sacrifice. Prove my faith, Lord. Teach me to be still before You. Amen.
