Face-to-Face
Snow had covered our beautiful city, but the sun shone so brightly that winter afternoon; it was a mirror image of the emotions celebrating in my heart. As my four girls and I headed to the airport, we could hardly contain our excitement! My husband and teenage son were returning from a two-week trip to the Philippines and I anxiously awaited their arrival. They had left with a very important mission—to bring home the newest member of our family, our eleven-year-old son.
For almost two years we had prayed, planned, and treasured every picture the orphanage could share. Some days seemed to be hopeless, just more time passing with everyone growing older. There were also joyous times in the wait when we were able to see his darling dimples and talk with him on the computer. But all of that dimmed in comparison to seeing my son face-to-face. The second he caught sight of me he ran and plunged into my arms. Holding his face, feeling the warmth of his sweet presence further affirmed in my heart that finally all was complete in our home. Our son was now where he was meant to be, in our lives forever.
Friend, I want you to know how safe and secure you are in Christ’s presence. That is truth, no matter your feelings or failing circumstances. If you know Jesus as your Savior, you are on your way to heaven; nothing can keep you from your eternal home. Beholding the face of Jesus and resting in the warmth of His presence will finally cease our work and pain in this life. Revelation 22:4 resounds that we will see His face! We will live eternally with an overwhelming sense of completeness and contentment, knowing that all will be right, forever. The joy in our lives will be immeasurable—off the charts—for we will finally be home!
Father, thank You that I have been grafted into Your family through the blood of Jesus. I see so dimly now; forgive me when I become discouraged and waver in my belief. My life and hope are in You, my eternal God. I praise You for the home You have prepared for me! Amen.
