Greetings,
Chapter is a good read. Now, I am processing it all. I had to check my realities. I had blinders on thinking that all is going to go well with my husband and I ministry. We just assumed this role as leaders of the church. So, Maybe
So glad you enjoyed the chapter. It does take a bit of time to process. I hope that as your blinders come off, you will be encouraged! I’m looking forward to unpacking this next chapter.
I didn’t complete my thought. But I believe that I am in the honeymoon phase of this role. I have numerous questions as to how does it feel to considered the first lady of the church translated Pastor’s wife. I actually don’t if I should feel a certain way. Are they expecting me to complain or speak ill? It is almost as if I am being monitored. Any who, this read is something to reflect on. I will complete the activity and tune in next week.
Oh, haha!! I should have read the rest of your response! Well, as a pastor’s wife of 30 years let me first say, you’re not supposed to feel any way in particular. They are watching you–but that doesn’t mean you have to behave in any way that is different than anyone else. Of course our standard is as daughters of the King–not pastor’s wives. lol
When the role and expectations get hard, my husband often reminds me I married him–not his profession. We do walk in a public role, but the best way to walk is with discretion but not pretense. And the best way to be authentic, genuine, loving and kind is to have a solid, growing relationship with the LORD and with our husbands, and with other women we can trust. I hope you find some of those women here. 🙂
As I read this chapter I reflected on times of loss or disappointment that I became “stuck” in grief ,
especially the anger stage. Through Bible study, prayer, my husband, and honest good friends I learned that grieving losses of many kinds is okay and healthy. Being stuck in anger is rebellion that needed confession, repentance and submission to God’s sovereignty – a hard journey but so well worth it. This chapter is a great reminder for me to be careful to focus on the faithfulness of God regardless of the circumstances in my life.
